The range is decent, I'm able to go most of the way across my house before the signal starts to drop.įor the price I paid I can't fault the hardware, it's the driver installation that made things difficult on my 64-bit Windows 7 install. Now I was able to successfully, properly pair my bluetooth headset and it properly shows as an available audio playback device. This time the adapter was marked as 'CSR Bluetooth Radio' and the driver showed Cambridge Silicon Radio Limited. Running the setup from there, I uninstalled the stack, rebooted, then ran the setup program from the 圆4 directory again. Rather than running the SETUP.EXE in the root folder, I noticed there was a directory for '圆4'.

When I noticed that the adapter driver under Device Manager was 'Microsoft Generic Bluetooth' I got a hunch that the CSR drivers had not installed properly.

I tried other troubleshooting activities, rebooted the PC multiple times and became very frustrated. I tried another headset from a different brand, and encountered the same problem. It would create an entry for the headset, but then would gray the entry out as if it had been turned off. Despite following the instructions on the included CD, the adapter would not properly pair my bluetooth headset. I moved it to an open port on a USB hub and then my PC detected it. Initially I thought the dongle was defective - I had plugged it into a USB port on the chassis but the adapter would not detect. So if your computer is sitting on top of your desk and you plan to only connect in a limited range, this should work fine for you. The only way I could get them to stay paired was to sit down on the ground right in front of desktop. However, when I had my desktop placed enclosed inside a thick wood cupboard of my desk with the bluetooth toward the rear of my metal case desktop, my controllers would keep unpairing. When my desktop is on top of my desk, it works just fine- the controllers remain paired as I move around in a 10 foot radius around my computer. I got this for the samsung hmd odyssey VR system that pairs controllers to the VR headset via bluetooth.

However, be aware that the range is quite limited.

Solution is here: I downloaded the above listed driver – Cambridge Silicon Radio Bluetooth Driver Pack 5.0.17 () for Windows 7 32 bit(x86) and just manually updated the driver for the unknown bluetooth peripheral device in device manager and gave the path to the extracted folder.Ĭambridge Silicon Radio Ltd All Drivers: This time the adapter was marked as 'CSR Bluetooth Radio' and the driver.
